Siobhan Magnus Eliminated as American Idol Results Show Debuts Sons of Sylvia PDF Print E-mail

Musical Guest Included Rascal Flatts, Shakira, and Lady Antebellum -- but No Shania Twain?

The American Idol Top 6 are now the American Idol Top 5 as one more contestant -- Siobhan Magnus -- left the Season 9 group Wednesday evening during the results show. It wasn't an unexpected elimination, not entirely, and not if you watched her performance on Tuesday evening, but things do not usually work in the worst-performance-gets-you-eliminated vein on American Idol. But Siobhan Magnus had never been in the Bottom Three, unlike Casey James and Michael Lynche, who joined her there on the results show. So, for some, it might have been a totally unexpected dismissal.

But the show was packed with country artists, befitting a week dedicated to the Shania Twain songbook. But Shania Twain wasn't there, which was a bit odd, given that mentors usually perform live or at least tape a performance to be shown on the results show.

Rascal Flatts, the three-man Ohio band that have produced six consecutive platinum and multi-platinum albums, kicked off the show with "Unstoppable," the title track to their last studio album (released in 2009). Every American Idol fan must now collectively thank the heavens for Rascal Flatts -- for pre-empting what would have no doubt been a godawful rendition of a Shania Twain tune (or worse, a medley of Shania Twain tunes).

American Idol host Ryan Seacrest then separated the Top 6 into three groups of two: Siobhan Magnus and Lee Dewyze; Crystal Bowersox and Aaron Kelly; and Casey James and Michael Lynche. In an act of preplanned cruelty, Ryan Seacrest guided Siobhan Magnus back towards the Sofa of Safety ("walk with me toward the couch," he said), but as they neared it, he stopped her beside Casey James and Michael Lynche. These were the Bottom Three, he announced (and standing beside those three, one truly got to see just how small of a person Ryan Seacrest actually is).

It was time for the eliminations last night on Dancing with the Stars 2010 and it was anyone’s guess as to who would be kicked off. With Kate Gosselin eliminated last week the show had seemed to lose a bit of sparkle which was strange as she was not always a very popular contestant.

Anyway, to last night and it was Jake Pavelka, “The Bachelor”, and Niecy Nash who were in the danger zone and in the end it was Pavelka who was eliminated, according to gather.com. In his emotional farewell Pavelka praised his partner and seemed to be choking back his tears.
dancing with the stars elimination april 20, jake pavelka, who went home on dancing with the stars tonight, who got voted off dancing with the stars tonight, who got kicked off dancing with the stars
It’s a good thing that as the series goes on, the winner is becoming less and less obvious. Nicole Scherzinger obviously shone right from the beginning but Chad Ochocinco who nobody had much noticed at first, seems to be coming up on the rails (see previous story), and really seems to be coming into his own now, growing in confidence at every performance.

Morning Links: Michael Lohan threatens to get control of Lindsay, who is dumped from movie and dumps drink on ex PDF Print E-mail

what happened to bret michaels

Michael Lohan gave his daughter Lindsay an ultimatum -- he said he will take steps to get his daughter placed in a conservatorship -- similar to the one Brittany Spears' dad administers for her -- unless Lindsay agrees to sit down with him today. Michael Lohan's first demand was that if Lindsay and Ali met with him, he wouldn't go the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services and ask that Ali be removed from Lindsay's house, or ask a judge to place Lindsay under a conservatorship. A few days later, Michael Lohan added one participant to the father-daughters sit-down -- his attorney. He says he's hired Lisa Bloom, daughter of Gloria Allred, whom TMZ says "just happens to work for an entertainment TV show."

Meanwhile, Lindsay Lohan has been dumped from a movie because she's not "bankable," a source connected with the film's production tells TMZ. Lindsay was slated to star in "The Other Side," stars Woody Harrelson, Giovanni Ribisi, Dave Matthews and Alanis Morissette. David Michaels, the writer/director, tells TMZ, "Our team simply chose to move on from Lindsay and we'll soon be announcing a replacement." TMZ also points out an eerie coincidence: Lohan was offered the role after Brittany Murphy's death last year. The 23-year-old's most recent movie, "I Know Who Killed Me," earned her three Razzie awards for bad acting. But Robert Rodriguez, director of the thriller "Machete," which is scheduled for release later this year, praised Lohan's work as April Benz, the socialite daughter of the villain Michael Benz (Jeff Fahey).
