Veteran Hollywood actor Dennis Hopper has become extremely ill from his battle with advanced prostate cancer, according to multiple tabloid reports citing new court documents.

The "Easy Rider" star is currently in the midst of his divorce battle with his fifth wife Victoria Duffy-Hopper. The 73-year-old actor/director and artist filed divorce papers in January to end his nearly 14-year marriage to Victoria, with whom he has a daughter, Galen Grier, who turns seven on Friday.

The estranged couple is fighting over when and whether to take the actor's deposition.

Hopper is terminally ill and in a grave condition

But, Hopper's divorce attorney Joseph Mannis says in a declaration filed Wednesday in Los Angeles that the movie legend is dying and can't undergo chemotherapy to treat his prostate cancer.
Citing Hopper’s grave condition, the attorney asserted that the actor cannot be questioned by his wife's attorneys in a deposition, according to reports.

Hopper’s doctor, David Agus, has described the actor in the court papers as extremely weak and unable to have long conversations or stress

According to a report by Access Hollywood, Mannis stated Hopper cannot be deposed by lawyers on behalf of the actor’s 42-year-old estranged wife Victoria in the course of his divorce proceedings.

Doctors’ take on Hopper’s health

The court filing states that Hopper’s battle with advanced prostate cancer has left him extremely ill, and weighing about 7st 2lb (45kg).

Hopper’s doctor, David Agus, has described the actor in the court papers as extremely weak and unable to have long conversations or stress, reports Associated Press.

According to popular gossip Web site TMZ, one of Hopper's doctors stated in the declaration, "It is doubtful that Mr. Hopper will ever recover sufficiently to be subject to a deposition."

He stressed that undergoing a deposition "could actually threaten his ability to survive his current health crisis."

Agus, however, has allowed Hopper to appear on Friday to accept his star on the Walk of Fame, citing the positive nature of the event, according to AP.

Too ill to work
In the legal documents obtained by TMZ, Hopper says he is too ill to work and is only able to afford $5,000 a month in spousal support to his estranged wife.

The court papers show that Hopper earned $57,000 in residuals in 2009 and is expected to earn that much this year. The actor's liquid assets are listed by his accountant at $300,280 plus another $10,900 in his corporations.

"Hopper has basically lived on income derived from new acting services," the CPA reportedly wrote, as reported by NY Daily News.
